NOTE:  English immigrant born in Brede, East Sussex; migrated in 1853 to Payson, Illinois with his wife Harriett and their two young daughters, toddler Mary Ann (3 yrs) and infant Harriett Frances (18 months). Harriett, the infant, died about two weeks after their arrival in America; the arduous six week trip from England to Payson must have been too strenuous for her.
